Details
This farm reservoir covers 2 ¼ acres and is stocked with a good head of Carp , Tench, roach to 2lb, Rudd to enormous and unrealized proportions, Perch, Silver and Bronze Bream, Ide, chub, and Crucian Carp. There are no pike or eels. There are about 30 pegs around the pond but anglers need to be careful as the banks are very steep. This big irrigation pond is very deep during the winter with 40ft of water at its deepest point. However, during the summer months the depths can drop to 6ft or less at times.
All methods of angling baits will produce good catches on the right day. One of our founder members (Martin Ferriby) had 9 different species in one afternoon session. You can expect to catch the big Ide taking slow sinking maggots at speed so be prepared for some lively sport. The Chub are now getting big and respond to all baits. Although many of our big Carp were stolen in 2008 , there are still some very large Carp to be caught. In 2012 many pegs were improved or created from scratch, and still being improved by our bailiff Andy Brumpton and his reliable sidekick son Ryan. Access to pegs will vary a great deal depending on the water level. We cannot guarantee your favourite peg will be fishable all the time – or even visible.
The pond is alongside Lodge Lane, Flixborough, which is the road from Normanby Road towards Flixborough village and, ultimately, Flixborough Wharf. The pond is on the right just before you reach the houses if travelling from the Normanby Road end. Turn in at the public footpath sign and there is a small grassed parking space immediately on the right inside our locked area. Please do not drive into the fishery via the eastern (nearest to Normanby Road) entrance, as the slope is very steep and, Particularly in wet conditions, cars are cutting into the turf causing deep ruts which are proving very difficult to repair. Please use the flixborough village end entrance.
