Although our club have actually owned this Island stretch of the river Trent since amalgamating with Sheffield and District AA in 2010 we had no official right of access. The whole area had been extensively quarried by Lafarge Aggregates and all entry points had been left in turmoil. Getting to our Island was like walking a minefield at best. Thankfully common sense has prevailed and Lafarge have agreed to reinstate our legal rights of access. The club are in talks with all concerned but it is slow going but we are hoping to get it resolved soon. For those that did venture there will know, the Island stretch has many features and will be a great asset to our portfolio. Barbel, Chub, Bream, Carp and Pike are all available with the addition of smaller species for anglers not in sole pursuit of the big lumps.
I hope this venue proves to be popular after all the hard work fighting for the access and I trust all members will respect the site by keeping it clean and tidy.
Blue is Torksey Ferry rd. Yellow is the Pump house, Red is the island stretch
Directions
Head to Rampton Village in Notts DN220hr . This sat nav direction is to the Eyre Arms pub. Before the road to the pub once in the village head towards All Saints Church on the junction of Treswell Road and Main Street, leading to Torksey Road which then becomes Torksey Ferry Road. Drive towards the cooling towers on Trent side exactly 1.5 miles down this narrow straight track. It is quite pot holed so be warned.
You will see our club signs showing you the way in.
The parking at the pumphouse is roadside parking only at the moment.
Please park sensibly not to obstruct other vehicles or farm machinery.
